Digital X-Rays

Digital X-Rays | Rockwall TX Dentist

Taking periodic dental x-rays is an invaluable part of the care we provide at Apricot Dental. The highly detailed images they produce help Dr. Randhawa detect cavities and gum disease in their early stages. At the heart of prevention is finding and treating problems in their earliest stages. This saves you the discomfort and expense of more complex problems, and digital x-rays are the key.

Most dental conditions like cavities and gum disease start inside your teeth or under your gums where we can't see with a visual exam. A digital x-ray shows Dr. Randhawa tiny spots of decay or evidence of gum disease in their earliest stages. That way, we can resolve them long before you feel any discomfort.

Even better, we can share the images with you so you can see the problem with your own eyes. You can make more confident decisions about your treatment when you have the full picture!

Another important reason we choose digital x-rays is that we care about your overall safety and well-being. Digital x-rays are safer than older film x-rays because they expose you to about 80 percent less radiation.

The images are digital, so we can store them safely on our secure in-house network. This makes your x-rays easy to access as needed for monitoring or to send to specialists or insurance companies.

Digital Sensors

When taking your x-rays, we use digital sensors that electronically capture the image. Digital sensors fit comfortably in your mouth because they’re flat, smooth, and have rounded edges. Since they’re easier to position in your mouth, we can get clear images the first time.

Intraoral Cameras

Intraoral Camera | Rockwall TX Dentist

An intraoral camera helps us detect and diagnose conditions while including you in the process. This small digital camera captures real-time images of the inside of your mouth as Dr. Randhawa guides it over your teeth. We share the images with you on your chairside monitor and use them as an educational tool to help you understand the extent of the problem.

When you can visualize the problem for yourself, you can make more confident decisions about your treatment. We can save the resulting images in your patient history and easily retrieve them as needed for reference or to send to insurance companies or specialists.

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous Oxide | Sedation Dentistry Rockwall

Dr. Randhawa and our team take your comfort very seriously. There aren’t too many people who are fans of dental visits, but there’s no reason that getting quality care has to be stressful.

If you are so nervous about dental visits that you postpone appointments or avoid them altogether, we can help. Nitrous oxide is a very mild, gentle form of sedation whose effects last only for the duration of treatment. It is so mild that we often use it for children who have trouble sitting still.

Nitrous oxide is a gas that’s mixed with oxygen, and you inhale it through a small, comfortable nasal mask. After a few moments, you’ll begin to feel calm and euphoric and experience a deep sense of well-being. Your dental team provides the treatment you need while you relax and the activity around you fades into the background.

At the end of your appointment, we’ll turn off the nitrous and let you breathe pure oxygen for a few moments. The effects of nitrous oxide leave your system quickly so you will leave our dental office feeling refreshed and able to drive yourself home from your appointment.

Panoramic X-Rays

Dental X-Rays | Rockwall Dentist

Digital dental x-rays are invaluable, but sometimes we need to see your entire mouth in one x-ray. A panoramic x-ray is an excellent solution because it shows us your upper and lower jaw, all your teeth, and surrounding bone and tissues.

While a panoramic x-ray doesn’t provide enough detail to show us cavities, it will show infections, tumors, cysts, bone abnormalities and fractures, and impacted teeth. If Dr. Randhawa suspects any of these problems, she would recommend a panoramic x-ray.

Panoramic x-rays are an important aid when planning dental implants, orthodontic treatment, and extractions.

Rotary Endodontics

Nobody looks forward to a root canal, so we’ve done everything we can to make the procedure as comfortable for you as possible. In addition to gentle, compassionate care and sedation options, we use state-of-the-art rotary endodontic technology.

Rotary endodontics enable us to improve your comfort during your root canal. In the past, dentists used manual files to remove the root canal infection. With rotary endodontics, Dr. Randhawa can perform a comfortable, efficient procedure.

TVs in Treatment Rooms

We know that sitting in the dental chair is probably the last place you want to be. So we do everything we can to make your visit with us as pleasant and comfortable as possible. With TVs in all our treatment rooms, you or your child can watch your favorite program on Netflix and distract yourself from the activity around you.

Laser Dentistry

Laser dentistry is another leading-edge service we offer at Apricot Dental. Dental soft tissue lasers make many different procedures more comfortable and dramatically reduce healing time compared to surgery. With minimal to no numbing, the laser provides the comfort and ease of removing any unnecessary soft tissue in the mouth.

We use our dental laser for:

  • Tongue-tie treatment, or Ankyloglossia
  • Frenectomy for excess tissue above or below the lip
  • Uncovering dental implants
  • In conjunction with non-surgical deep cleaning to improve the outcome of periodontal therapy, as laser dentistry is known for killing bacteria in pockets
  • Any small growth removal and sending it for biopsy
  • Cosmetic gingival sculpting to reshape gums for uniformity

We perform laser procedures quickly and virtually pain-free with minimal recovery times.
